Ooooohhhhh snaaaappp, just when you thought The Hot Six couldn’t get any HOTTER, we hit you with some fresh new dopeness that will take this ish to the next level. We’re proud to introduce our new blogger, FarSide, who’s got his thumb on the pulse of the hottest Hip-Hop tracks and trends. The Hot Six is dropping that Hip-Hop HOTNESS for you, too! What else you want, yo??? Without further ado, here’s FarSide:

Egotistical, rude, self-centered, attention-craving, d***bag . . . say what you will about Kanye West, but there’s one thing you can’t argue with at an elemental level: the guy has artistic vision and ability arguably above and beyond anyone in the rap/hip-hop game today. To my knowledge, I’ve listened to just about every track starring, guest-starring, or produced by Kanye West and I can truthfully say that each could’ve shined as a solid single release from a full-length studio album, including unreleased tracks which were a few unfinished bars and hooks away from classics. It’s difficult to think of any other artist capable of being held to that same standard. Barring a history on one of the most recognizably loved/hated figures in pop and hip hop culture, this week we’ll spotlight West’s latest project: “Mercy.”

The first single off of the debut studio album of Kanye’s record label G.O.O.D. Music, Mercy intros with a sample from late reggae singer Fuzzy Jones, immediately notching up the hype which is effortlessly carried through with hooks from fellow labelmates Big Sean, Pusha T, 2 Chainz, and the lead man himself. Not the strongest track lyrically, but a promising glimpse at what’s ahead with the full length album release.

So what do you think? Spin or Pass?

I heard that Chain Heavy joint at a def poetry jam that Kanye did years ago. He changed up the lyrics for the song, but the hook is the same. Have you heard his poetry stuff? He had one where he talked about how he was growing up and dudes fucked with his mom…..deep, sad, twisted-$hit….

Haven’t heard any of his poetry but that’s pretty cool that you had a chance to hear it live. The closest thing I’ve heard to poetry from Kanye, aside from the acapellas he did at the Facebook offices, was the bonus track ‘Pinocchio Story’ from the 808s album. It was a recording of a live freestyle he apparently did at a Singapore concert.
The other song you’re talking about was leaked sometime last year as “Mama’s Boyfriend”, here’s the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDO-K755q2o
