Welcome back to another edition of Throwback Thursdays. Let me start by acknowledging the loss of Etta James in the music community, who passed away on January 20th. As we mentioned to you before, one of the hottest dance songs out right now, Good Feeling by Flo Rida samples vocals by Etta James. And for that, I’ve included a tribute to her in today’s mix.
This week’s track, Avalon by Juliet, was released in 2005. This song reached number one on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart that year. What I like about this track is that it features a memorable unique sultry sound and sexy basslines. This hit track and her full album was produced by Stuart Price (also known as Jacques Lu Cont). As with any great throwback track, its something you could still add to your ipod playlist today, and it won’t sound outdated.
